Edit Screen

Path to the file: This box must contain the path to the file you want to create a counter for. This path has to be accessible via the web whether or not the file link will be accessible to the public on the web. This path is where Host2count server will look for your file.
If you are constructing an embedded counter then this path may be anything and don't need to be a true reference to any file.

Test button: This tests the validity of the path.

S button: Strict path. Press this if you want HitMan to allow only formatted URL If the path does not need to be a url then this button needs to be up.

Friendly Name: This is the name people will see instead of the file name. It may be anything. i.e.: if your file name is "dance-music.mp3" the friendly name could be "mp3file.txt" or "nicemusic_dance1" or anything you like.

Initial value: If you need to start your counter from a value different than zero.

Comments: This is a local only field. You can type any text for your references.

Unique hit: Check this if you want to account only one hit per visitor per day. If uncheck every time the user comes back to that document it will account for a hit.

Help Display: It displays quick help for many important buttons and fields. Click on the label to hide it and to show the current counters. You will need to do this or click on the small help button (below large buttons) if you want to edit or delete an existing counter.

Show on Report: If checked the counter will appear on the Reports page. If unchecked it wont but it still will be monitored by Hit2count server and hits will continue being added.

Code for:

These two buttons generate code for different applications.

Use Page view If you want to monitor and accrue page view. This code must be embedded on a html page and a web connection must be present between Hit2Count server and that page.
If you need to place this counter on eBay pages check the eBay option. Note the difference of the code.

Use Download to monitor file downloads. Any type of file can be monitored. Whether it is an executable or a picture to name a few. This code must replace the original link to the file.

Digits: If a default style is found the code will match that style. If no code is shown you must select the DIgits editor to create a default style.

Export
